We all know how hard it can be to find a decent building company these days. Many people that need to have some building work on their house talk to friends that have hired builders before. Word of mouth is the most common way that good builders make money and a name for their building contractors. So how do you go about locating a good builder in your area if you don’t know anyone who has had any building work done? A good way of finding almost anything now a days is the Internet. There are two different ways you can use the Internet to find a local builder either by using a search engine or a consumer review website.
Using a search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN to find local builders in your area. By entering the right sort of phrases containing the type of builder you need and the areas you live in. For example if you have a property in Wiltshire and you wanted some specialist building restoration work on your house then you should use a search phrase like “restoration builders Wiltshire”. These should return a number of builders that are available in your area. You may also get a map showing you the location of builders in your area.
Refining your search using a range of search phrases may help. If you’re someone that lives on the boarder of Dorset and Hampshire, then you might want to put in a phrase like “resoration builders Hampshire” or “restoration builders Dorset”. You may want to shorten your range to builders in your nearest town. You can do this by using search phrases like “restoration builders Chippenham” for example.
You can find all sorts of consumer advice directories that recommend building contractors in your area. These websites allow you to enter details about the type of building work you need doing, the sort of budget you have and your location. They will then put together a list of recommended builders in your area that specialise in the type of work you need such as heritage restoration. There are other websites where you can post jobs for building contractors to find. These websites let you post a job which is then sent via email to the closest builders that can perform the task. The builder will then contact you for more information.
Which ever method you choose always make sure you check customer reviews and testimonials featured on the different websites.
